Document provides institutional asset owners with a practical roadmap for accessing the impact market

Bethesda, MD - Calvert Impact today announced the release of a comprehensive guide for institutional investors that want to make a direct impact with their investment portfolio. “Impact Investing: A Guide for Institutional Investors,” is designed to help institutional asset owners understand how to implement impact investment strategies that align with their broader mission and values.

With roughly 4,000 organizations already managing $1.571 trillion in impact investing assets worldwide, the guide aims to give organizations that are new to the space a step-by-step instruction manual for joining the practice of investing for impact. The 20-page guide is intended to be both thorough and accessible, with examples and resources throughout.

The guide features five steps asset owners and managers can take to create an impactful portfolio: establishing an impact strategy that furthers organizational goals, applying that strategy across investment portfolios, incorporating it into governance policies and documents, sourcing and executing impact investments, and measuring and managing outcomes. It also includes background on the impact market and impact investment opportunities by asset class.

“We created this easy-to-follow guide after hearing from institutional investors eager to pursue impact investing but aren’t sure how to begin” said Holly Williams, director, institutional relations at Calvert Impact. “Getting started can feel overwhelming, so we’ve broken down the process into simple, actionable steps that allow organizations to begin aligning investments with their values right away.”
