Vivriti India Retail Assets Fund
The Vivriti India Retail Assets Fund (VIRAF) is an alternative investment fund that invests in Indian asset backed securities (ABS). VIRAF is India’s first ABS fund and on-ramp for international investors to participate in and deepen securitization markets in India. VIRAF has a fund term of 10 years with a target assets under management of $250 million and is domiciled in the Gujarat International Finance Tech City, International Financial Services Center. The fund supports micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as low-income households that receive small retail loans for income generation, asset finance, and consumption The fund is designed to address the needs of women-owned micro- and small-enterprises, with at least 40% of its proceeds specifically allocated for them. VIRAF has also recently committed to the 2X Challenge 2024.
VIRAF is managed by Vivriti Asset Management (VAM), a subsidiary of Vivriti Capital Private Limited. VAM was founded in 2019 and focuses on addressing the large demand-supply imbalance related to accessing debt for mid-market enterprises in India. The subsidiary helps entrepreneurs and MSMEs access the credit market by connecting them with institutional, private wealth, and offshore investors who aim to generate social and environmental impact alongside a financial return. The connection is made through alternate investment funds, such as VIRAF, with an underlying philosophy that is strongly aligned with United Nations’ SDGs.
